Sodium Lactate

Sodium lactate liquid is a salt that helps produce a harder bar of cold process soap and helps to release the finished soap from the mold. It is also a great addition to lotions to replace the glycerin in the formula.

Sodium Lactate is the sodium salt of natural L (+) lactic acid made by the fermentation of sugar.  It has a mild taste, antimicrobial properties and is pH neutral. This product is widely used as a natural preservative in many applications.

For cold or hot process soap, add sodium lactate to your cooled lye/water before blending with oils. Use 1 tsp. of Sodium Lactate per pound of oils in your recipe.
